Choose the right bandsaw blade for your machine

Choosing the right bandsaw blade is essential to achieve optimal cutting results and extend the life of the blade. Factors such as material type, dimensions and machine specifications should be considered when choosing. We offer advice to help you choose the most suitable blade for your application, ensuring efficient and precise processing.

Definition of tooth sharing

The correct tooth pitch is crucial for accurate and efficient cutting results. It is defined by the number of teeth per inch (tpi) and has a direct effect on cutting quality. A higher tooth pitch produces a finer cut, while a lower tooth pitch produces a coarser cut.

Basic rules for correct gear selection

Larger workpieces require a coarser tooth pitch (e.g. 4/6, 3/4 or 2/3 tooth pitch).
Smaller workpieces should be processed with a finer tooth pitch (e.g. 10/14, 8/11 or 8/12 tooth pitch).
Medium-sized workpieces can be processed with a medium-sized tooth pitch (e.g. 5/7, 5/8 or 6/10 tooth pitch).
For hard materials, a finer tooth pitch should be selected, whereby the chip removal is distributed over several teeth.
For soft materials, a coarser tooth pitch should be chosen, as the larger chip space provides more capacity for the long sawdust.
